Rain or shine, the Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve will be hosting Prairie Day 2005 on Saturday, August 13th beginning at 10:00 am.  The event theme is "Species at Risk and Threatened Landscapes" with special presentations by Manitoba Conservation, Manitoba Conservation Data Centre, Nature Conservancy of Canada - Manitoba Region, and Native Orchid Conservation Inc.  Displays will highlight plants and animals of the prairie.  Activities for the kids include critter dipping, face painting, relay races and other games.  Throughout the day guided walks will draw attention to the unique plants of the prairie.

All activities will take place at the Agassiz Interpretive Trail, located 1.6 km east of the junction between Provincial Roads 201 and 209.  Admission: $3.00 per adult, no charge for children.  A canteen will serve food and beverages.  For more information, contact the Preserve at 204-425-3229 or tgpphq@escape.ca.
